Cleaning Up After an Infestation
The treatment is done, the bugs are gone - congratulations! But you might be wondering what to do next. Here's a practical guide to cleaning up and reclaiming your space.
Why Clean After Treatment?
Heat treatment kills all the bugs, but it doesn't remove what they left behind: dead bugs, shed skins, fecal spots, and histamines. Cleaning removes these remnants and helps you psychologically move past the experience.
Start With Vacuuming
Vacuum thoroughly - mattresses, furniture, baseboards, carpets. Use the crevice tool to get into seams and corners. When done, seal and dispose of the vacuum bag (or empty the canister into a sealed bag) immediately.
Wash and Dry
Wash all bedding, curtains, and any fabric items that were in the treatment area. Use the hottest water safe for the fabric, and dry on high heat. This removes any residue and gives you fresh, clean materials to return to.
